Good Afternoon, Saint Peter’s Catholic School Families and Friends,
As you may already know, Governor McMaster has lifted the mandatory evacuation for Beaufort County, as of noon today.
Beaufort County School District schools will remain closed tomorrow, but will be re-evaluating their status for the remainder of the week. At this time, Saint Peter’s Catholic School will remain closed until Monday, September 17th, as will the Saint Peter’s Catholic Church offices.
This decision has been made first, because many of our teachers, staff, and families have already left, and may experience difficulties returning in a safe and timely manner.
Secondly, the hurricane is expected to make landfall late Thursday or early Friday, and there is still uncertainty here in Beaufort about the type of weather we will experience, as well as the effects of that weather. This to ensure the safety of all.
Please remember, in order to make best use of the time away from school, and to avoid potential make-up days, Saint Peter’s teachers will continue to post lesson plans on SchoolSpeak. Again, the lessons will cover the time that we are out of school and will focus on the core subjects/curriculum. These will come to you with specific instructions on how to complete them and what is required. Please check SchoolSpeak and your email as frequently as is possible.
We certainly understand that this is a time of confusion, frustration and uncertainty, and it may be difficult for some to carry this out. However, we do ask that you make every effort to have your children work on completing the assignments that their teachers have posted. When we return to school, the assignments will need to be turned into the classroom teacher.
Please continue to pray, especially for those who are ill or infirm, and for those for whom inclement weather conditions are particularly difficult. Pray for our country, for those we lost 17 years ago, and for those who continue to grieve for them.
